#1. You have no website at all

According to one study, 46% percent of small businesses did not have a website.

No, this is not a joke. It’s astonishing, but according to one study, 46% percent of small businesses surveyed said they did not have a website. The respondents of the study said it’s a myth that every company needs a website.  Businesses that don’t want to be successful certainly shouldn’t spend the time and money to develop a web presence. So they may be right.

After all, you can still be found in yellow pages, online phone directories and on Google maps and such, right? But is that impressing your prospects? Does your business  at least have a Blogger blog, Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook page?

I doubt it.

Without your own website, you lose your ability to:

  • Differentiate yourself
  • Create authority with customers and within your industry
  • Share your story and ideas
  • Get social
  • Take advantage of free traffic coming from search engines
  • Benefit from the engines bias to show local results
  • House your own community
  • Save time and money by providing information about your products, services and answering frequently asked questions
  • Build a list of subscribers.
